DETROIT -

Labor Day Weekend will feel like summer in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. Although there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, it will not be a washout.

Saturday morning will be partly to mostly cloudy and warm with temperatures in the 70s. Saturday afternoon will be partly sunny, warm, breezy and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Here is a weather guide to many Saturday events:

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: APPALACHIAN ST. VS. MICHIGAN
Football fans will need ponchos by the end of the game. With kickoff at 12 noon, Ann Arbor will be warm and muggy in the morning for tailgaters. Skies will start with clouds and temperatures in the 70s before the start of the game. It will be warm and mostly cloudy with some sun by noon with temps near 80 degrees. Families will need to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Skies will darken by the start of the fourth quarter with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Roads will be wet after 3pm for the ride home. Heavy downpours, gusty winds and lightning are possible. Watch out for ponding and large puddles on streets and highways. Plan for alternate routes around high standing water.

FORD ARTS, BEATS AND EATS
People with a penchant for beautiful art, wonderful music and delicious food will enjoy all of it rain-free before 4pm. After four in the afternoon, as temperatures reach 85 degrees, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. If it rains in Royal Oak, it will not last all afternoon or evening. Showers will be on and off. Heavy downpours, gusty winds and lightning are possible. People may need to find sturdy structures to duck inside when storms strike. Tents will not be protective.

DETROIT JAZZ FESTIVAL
Jazz enthusiasts and first-time-listeners, alike, will enjoy concerts on Woodward Avenue and Hart Plaza uninterrupted by any shower or thunderstorm activity. Downtown highs will be near 85 degrees, too, with pop-up showers and storms after 3pm. Scattered rain will linger Saturday evening, too. Heavy downpours, gusty winds and lightning are possible. People may need to find sturdy structures to duck inside when storms strike. Tents will not be protective.

Showers and thunderstorms will linger Saturday evening, then fade away by midnight. Heavy rain, dangerous lightning and high winds remain possible. It will be warm and muggy overnight with partly cloudy skies and lows near 70 degrees.

Sunday will be partly sunny and warm with lighter winds. Highs will be in the low 80s in the afternoon.

Labor Day, Monday, will have a return of showers and storms, but it remains warm. Highs will be in the low 80s. More storms are possible Tuesday.

Wednesday and the rest of next week will be sunnier and remain warm. Highs will be near 80 and lows will be in the low and middle 60s.
