Warm and sticky Monday

Highs will reach the upper 80s for Ford Fireworks

DETROIT – The heat and humidity are the main story of this Monday with highs near 90 degrees expected this afternoon and heat indices in the low to middle 90s.

With the muggy air comes the threat of a few isolated thundershowers between 3pm and 7 p.m. or 8pm.

So, even with a few scattered thundershowers, we should be calming and dry by sunset and good to go for the Ford Fireworks presented by Target.

Stay hydrated and protected today with the umbrella handy just in case.

We have been placed under a slight risk for severe storms on Tuesday.

We will likely have thunderstorms early morning on Tuesday and then again in the peek heating of the afternoon.

Some of the storms could be strong to severe with the potential for damaging wind, hail, heavy downpours, and lots of lightning.

Tuesday will not be a washout by any means. In fact, afternoon temps will bubble up to near 90 degrees again with some hazy sunshine mixed with the cloud cover. Keep your eyes to the skies for the threat of those stronger storms early morning and then again starting in the middle to late afternoon hours.

More wet weather will drop periods of heavy rain late Wednesday and Thursday.
