Weather: Warm, sticky Thursday with storm threat in SE Michigan

DETROIT – Get ready for a warm and sticky Thursday with morning showers and a decent threat for afternoon and evening storms.

The morning showers are weakening as they cross Lake Michigan this morning. This could slow some down during the morning commute and will be moving through the area from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The heat will bring highs in the mid 80s and the humidity will make it feel like low 90s.

Afternoon storm threat

The main storm threat will be later in the afternoon and evening as a cold front slowly approaches. Our South Zone is in a Slight Risk or greater chance for some damaging winds and gushing rains.

The rest of Metro Detroit is in a Marginal Risk or very weak chance for strong storms -- still, there’s a chance. Eyes to the skies with the two main threats being damaging winds and heavy downpours.

Friday forecast

Friday brings drier air and plenty of sunshine. We will see highs tomorrow in the low to mid 80s without the soupy air. That will be the case again Saturday but high clouds will be on the increase through the day with rain chances coming in late Saturday Night or early Sunday.

We will end the weekend with hit or miss rain and thundershowers. Make sure you download the Local4Casters app with radar and storm updates, so you’re prepared all summer long.
