DETROIT -

The rest of the Detroit area's Labor Day Weekend will remain warm. The chance of showers and storms remains, too. Sunday appears less stormy than the holiday, Monday.

A few showers and thunderstorms develop Sunday afternoon with highs in the low 80s. Here is a rundown of some of Southeast Michigan's big events:

FORD ARTS, BEATS AND EATS
With instability still hanging in the air, pop-up showers and storms will occur between noon and 4pm. Winds will be lighter than Saturday's; 5 to 15 mph from the southwest.

DETROIT JAZZ FESTIVAL
A little sun will glare down upon Hart Plaza and push temperatures to the low 80s. However, like in Oakland County, scattered showers and a few storms develop but will be hit and miss between 2pm and 6pm. The taste of smoothies and lemonade will be all the more sweeter with protection from an umbrella or two.

ROMEO PEACH FESTIVAL
The event will be on the northern edge of scattered showers and storms in the afternoon. Families strolling the streets will need umbrellas and some throat-clearing ice water to stay hydrated.

Sunday evening will be warm with mostly to partly cloudy skies and temperatures near 80 degrees.

Air conditioners will need to keep running Sunday night with lows near 70 and humid air still draped over the region. The moisture in the air will feed more storms for Labor Day.

Labor Day, Monday, will be warmer with highs near 85 degrees. Parades beginning late-morning or noon should have no problem with rain. However, showers and thunderstorms arrive ahead of a cold front after 2pm. Some showers will get heavier in Detroit, Royal Oak and much of Southeast Michigan by 4pm and later. Downpours will cause ponding on roads, and winds will get gusty. Some small hail may develop Monday evening, too.

Tuesday will have more shower activity with highs near 80 degrees. School children can give their new rain boots and jackets a go. The rest of the week will be sunnier and remain warm. Highs will be near 80 degrees, and nighttime lows will be in the low 60s.
