DETROIT – What a recovery from our start in the teens (in most spots). Temperatures made it near 40 degrees, even topping that mark in some locations. The weekend promises even warmer temperatures. But enjoy it while it lasts… next week we’ll go back to a colder wintry pattern that will have flakes flying almost the entire work week.
Tonight, we’re watching the last of some flurries dry up. Then we’ll stay dry and mostly cloudy through the night. Lows will drop only to the mid 20s, with a light southwest breeze.
The weekend looks pretty decent for early February. Saturday, expect a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will return to a high near 40 degrees. Sunday, sunshine will be more limited, especially in the afternoon. Temperatures will hit their warmest mark of the forecast, in the mid 40s. Then it’s all downhill from there. Some scattered showers (rain) will arrive Sunday night. Then those become all snow for Monday.
Monday will bring our most likely shot at snow as a low pressure center parks itself over the Great Lakes. Even though our chances of snow decrease through the week, we’ll likely see snow showers or flurries through Friday. It’s really difficult to pin down which bursts of snow will lead to accumulation, but those amounts will be minor.
