Warmer with storms returning Thursday

Thunder and lightning Thursday with highs well in the 80s

DETROIT – Thursday morning will be dry with temps in the 60s, but good old-fashioned summer storms are in store for the afternoon.

Humidity will rise along with afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s.

The increased instability will give a good chance of showers and thunderstorm after 3pm for the afternoon rush hour. Some storms may be heavy with gusty winds, lightning and small hail. Follow any rain-makers with 4 Live Radar on on your computer or mobile device.

Showers and thunderstorms continue Thursday night. Drier conditions will develop by dawn with lows in the low 60s.

Thursday's storms are associated with a cold front. After it passes, cooler conditions settle in Friday and this weekend. Friday afternoon will be mostly sunny with highs near 75. 

Saturday and Sunday will be even cooler for the Woodward Dream Cruise, the Susan G. Comen 3 Day, NASCAR's Pure Michigan 400 at MIS and other outdoor activities. Both days will have daytime temperatures in the low 70s and nighttime temperatures in the 50s.
