DETROIT – Sunday starts off rocky with showers and thunderstorms, but it will be warm. Then fall-like air arrives mid-week.

Sunday morning will have showers and thunderstorms. Some will be heavy with drenching downpours, lightning and gusty winds, especially south of I-94. Temperatures will be near 70 degrees. Families going to morning services will need to avoid large puddles and use caution on wet road surfaces.

Showers will diminish after lunchtime. It will remain warm with temperatures rising to the low 80s with enough sunshine. Skies will slowly become mostly sunny at times.

Sunday night will be partly cloudy with temperatures in the 60s.

Monday has a chance of scattered showers with highs in the middle and upper 70s.

It will feel like October next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as much chillier air arrives. Record low temperatures are less likely than record low maximum temperatures each day.

Tuesday, July 15?s record low is 50 degrees from 1971 and record low maximum is 60 degrees from 1945. Wednesday, July 16?s record low is 49 degrees from 1945 and record low maximum is 70 from 1896. Thursday, July 17?s record low is 46 degrees from 1978 and record low maximum is 70 degrees from 1924.

Afternoon highs next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will only be in the 60s and low to middle 70s, and it will be partly to mostly sunny with lingering showers Tuesday.
