DETROIT - Heavy rain has flooded roadways around metro Detroit, making it a very tricky morning commute. Combined with melting snow and slush, deep puddles and ponding on roads are possible. Drivers will need to keep low beams on and drive slowly to avoid hydroplaning.
During Friday's drive several accidents were reported including:
- EB I-94 east of Cadieux (left lane blocked)
- NB I-75 at 12 Mile (left lane blocked)
- NB Miller Rd. at Dix Ave
- WB I-94 at 9 Mile
- WB I-94 accident at 10 Mile
- NB Merriman between 5 and 6 Mile
Rain becomes more scattered after lunch, and mild air continues to pour in to Southeast Michigan. Afternoon highs will be 20 degrees or more above average in the low 50s.
Friday night will be relatively mild, misty and foggy with lows near 40. Fog forms with the warm air traveling over colder ground.
Saturday will be partly sunny after a foggy morning and warmer. Daytime temps will rise into the middle and upper 50s.
Sunday has January-like changes. Temperatures plummet back into the 40s then low 30s by the end of the day with scattered rain and snow showers. Sunday night's lows will be in the 20s.
Early next week will have sunshine again, but it will feel like early Winter. Highs will be near freezing, and Lows will be in the low 20s.
