Metro Detroit weather: Wind chill, below freezing temps

Highs in the mid 30s

DETROIT – Wind chills in the teens to low 20s as you head out with mostly cloudy skies and dry roads.

The pesky breezes today WSW 10-17 mph gusting over 20 mph will keep drawing lake effect clouds in and will keep our wind chills in the 20s all day. We may see a few lake effect flurries but most of the lighter snow is closer to Lake Michigan in Western Michigan.

Even colder air arrives by Thursday with winds blowing straight off Lake Michigan bringing light snow showers Thursday and Friday. Temps in the 20s to low 30s feeling colder with winds W 15-25 mph. It’s tough to say who will see accumulations, but a few heavier snow bands may set up across parts of Metro Detroit.

Saturday will be quiet and cool in the upper 20s to low 30s with partly sunny skies. A snow storm is coming early Sunday and will bring accumulating snow to SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario. Early model projections are for maybe as much as 3-6” Sunday giving the kids something to do as we end the weekend… Shovel!
