DETROIT – Clouds are filling in ahead of a snow maker moving through Wisconsin this Thursday afternoon.
Highs are climbing into the mid 20s but the winds will be steady SSW 10-25 mph making it feel like single digits and low teens at best as you head out.
The snow will be heavier across Central and Northern Michigan later today and some light snow is on tap for Metro Detroit around 8 p.m.
We will likely only see a dusting to maybe an inch.
After morning snow showers or flurries, highs Friday will be near 30 degrees with more clouds than sun but a mostly dry day. Then, there's a chance for evening snow showers which will likely put down a quick inch of snow making getting around a bit slick. But that should be the snow that puts January 2014 in the record books if we don't get it tonight.
More heavy snow for most of the day Saturday and this could be a big one. At least enough to blanket the area with 4-8" of fresh snow or more to start the weekend. We may get a transition to rain near the Ohio border midday Saturday.
If we see any rain mixing in around Detroit, it will impact snow totals. Some model information is hinting at maybe 6-10" of snow. We'll see light snow showers Friday night and heavier snows early Saturday, lasting all day.
