Metro Detroit Weather: Windy weekend for Metro Detroit

Strong winds mixed with light snow flakes

DETROIT – We say goodbye to record high temps for a while and have already hit our high for the day after midnight.

Expect afternoon temps in the low to mid-30s with some sunshine trying to get through the lake effect clouds.

The breezes continue overnight and through the day Sunday. Temps start chilly in the 20s with wind chills in the teens if you are heading out early to services or running errands. Temps will be similar tomorrow in the upper 30s most of the day maybe peaking near 40 degrees but breezes SW 10-20 mph make it feel colder all day.

SE Lower Michigan will see a little more sunshine tomorrow with a few flakes and flurries flying along the gusty breezes from the west.

We will start next week with some sunshine Monday and half of Tuesday. Temps Monday respond to sun warming into the upper 40s with lighter breezes.

Models are split on Tuesday with some data bringing a few rain and snow showers in through the morning, while other data suggests some sun and dry weather through the midday. Either way, expect some moisture to move in Tuesday mainly as rain.

Cooler air slides in Wednesday and Thursday and a few light snow makers could bring some measurable snow late Wednesday into early Thursday. Doesn’t look like much more than a couple of inches right now but stay tuned!  Enjoy your weekend and as always, bring your weather with you with the Local4Casters app.
