Families may want to consider dressing in extra layers before going to the movies, dinner, dancing or ice skating.

Saturday will be dry during daylight hours and just after sunset. Clear, sunny skies will gradually give way to clouds by day's end. However, Saturday will not be as cold with highs near 30 degrees.

Snow is expected to arrive Saturday night from the southwest, starting between 10 p.m. and midnight. Flurries and light snow will gradually overtake the Motor City and other areas south of 8 Mile Road. This includes Adrian Ann Arbor, and Monroe. The heart of the snow storm, where the most energy is, will remain south of the Michigan border. Northern parts of metro Detroit likely will receive less accumulation.

North of 8 Mile communities could see about 2 to 6 inches. Four to 6 inches is more likely in Livingston County and in areas south of M-59 (Hall Road) in Macomb and Oakland Counties. This includes places like Birmingham, Novi, Mt. Clemens, Pontiac, Roseville, Southfield, Sterling Heights, Troy, and Warren.
