DETROIT -

jan 1 weather image Winter Weather Advisories continue for Wayne, Washtenaw, Monroe, and Lenawee Counties through noon Thursday.

This is a prolonged snow event and the advisory means travel at your own risk.

Snow will stick to the roads and reduce visibility.

For parts of today, expect light snow. But, heavier snow picks up this afternoon and will keep going overnight. Areas north of 8 Mile will see less snow as the snow takes its time moving north.

This is not a massive blizzard but it will be lingering through midday Thursday.

Many will see 2-4 inches of snow through this afternoon with lesser amounts north of M 59. We may get another 2-3 inches overnight. Our computer models are hinting at 6-8” around the Ohio and Indiana borders for our southern counties.

Get ready Adrian and Monroe. Highs will be colder Thursday and Friday with single digits and teens and subzero wind chills to end the week.
