Winter Weather Advisory starts at 4 p.m. on Monday

Snow totals will be in the 3-5 inches range throughout SE Michigan

DETROIT – Snow is moving into the area and it will get heavy later this evening.

The snow showers will start around 4pm and it will be light to moderate snow through the evening commute.

Traveling will be dangerous later tonight which is why we are under a Winter Weather Advisory from 4pm Monday until 4am Tuesday. Again, the main concern is being out on the roads during the peak snow this evening.

The latest snow models show some areas north of Detroit could get 6" of fresh snow or slightly more. But most of us will be in the 3-5" range tonight with some lighter snow showers after midnight. It will be tough for road crews to keep up this evening, so Tuesday morning's commute will be slick and slow.

Snow showers will linger through Tuesday morning, but it will be much lighter and scattered early tomorrow. Still, tomorrow's early commute will be slow and slippery so plan on a slow go through the early rush. The sun will bust out by late morning and highs tomorrow will get into the mid and maybe upper 30s. Breezes will switch from the NW to SW 10-20 mph. Partly to mostly cloudy skies will stream back in by mid to late afternoon.

Wednesday will be very nice as we start to thaw out. Highs will be near 40 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

We may get into the mid 40s Thursday with a rain maker coming in late Thursday and early Friday. That will cause some major melting and possibly flooding parts of SE Michigan.
