Wintry mix to hit parts of metro Detroit

Bulk of moisture to hold off until late morning

DETROIT – Rain showers and temperatures in the mid-40s will give way to a strong cold front this afternoon.

That front will change to a wintry mix, even snow, for some after 4 p.m.

We may see a brief period of snow late afternoon and/or early evening and if it gets going as steady snow, we may see some grassy surfaces see some minor accumulation.

We will wake up with wind chills in the teens Tuesday morning.

Bundle up as you head out for a day starting and finishing cold. Actual lows will drop into the lower 20s and partly to mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon will keep highs in the mid to upper 30s tomorrow.

The winds will continue to howl NW 10-20 mph bringing a few pockets of heavy lake effect snow.

Parts of the Thumb, Southern Ontario, and SW Lower Michigan will see the bulk of the snow being closest to the big lakes.
