Work week starts with scattered storm chances

Afternoon showers and storms will hit metro Detroit

DETROIT – There will be a few showers early this Monday morning, mainly through the heart of Metro Detroit. So, not everybody gets a free lawn watering this morning. But, there are a few more chances later in the day.

A stationary front parked right over SE Lower Michigan will be the trigger for scattered afternoon showers and storms. The Storm Prediction Center has Monroe County and points southward in a slight risk for severe weather.

The closer to the Ohio border, the better your chance for soaking storms, small hail, and damaging winds. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny and warm with highs around 81 degrees with winds SW 6-12 mph.

Tuesday is the arrival of the cooler air you've been hearing about. A couple of pushes of arctic air will mean unseasonably cooler temps for a few days. That being said, it won't be too bad. You can expect highs Tuesday around 72 degrees with only partly sunny skies, scattered light rain, and strong breezes WNW 10-20 mph. So, it's going to feel a bit more like fall through what is normally one of the hottest weeks of the summer. Get ready for lows in the 50s and highs in the low 70s at best for a few days.

Wednesday will bring a few more light showers, but it should be cool and dry for most of the day. Highs again only in the low 70s. Get your complete 7 Day forecast on ClickOnDetroit.com and on the Weather links:
