The Michigan State University Black Alumni Association and the University of Michigan African American Alumni Council will partner to host the ninth annual Urban Tailgate for the Michigan vs. Michigan State football game on Nov. 3 at Flood's Bar & Grill, located across from Greektown Casino in Downtown Detroit.

Hosted by the MSU Black Alumni Association in conjunction with the UMAAAC, the Urban Tailgate brings the universities together to not only watch the game, but also partake in one of the most popular parties in the Detroit area. Young and old alike come to cheer on their favorite college in the heat of battle on the gridiron, as well as party until the late evening. Local celebrities from entertainment to politics make an appearance to represent whom they want to win.

The Urban Tailgate has the traditional elements crucial to every tailgate: plenty of food, beer, and college cheers, but with giveaways, raffles, and the hottest DJ's that set the party off, this tailgate has for eight consecutive years proven to be the ultimate party for Michigan & Michigan State alumni and fans.

For further details, MSU fans may contact Chuck Smith at 313-595-7549. U-M fans may contact Lynn Burdell at 313-309-1300.

All fans may purchase tickets online at www.umaac.org/events/tailgate.

The Urban Tailgate is an annual opportunity for both African American Alumni organizations to raise funds for their respective scholarship programs. Both alumni organizations are proud to each offer annually over $40,000 in scholarships to African American students. The Urban Tailgate is one of the mechanisms that provide visibility and revenue generation for their scholarship efforts.
