Excessive Heat Alerts Through the Work Week
Heat and humidity will affect the area through the week. New this morning, the Excessive Heat Watch that was draping all of SE Michigan has been upgraded to Excessive Heat Warnings for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties starting at noon today through Friday. The remaining outlying areas across SE Michigan will be under a Heat Advisory for the same timeframe.
SUNRISE: 5:57 AM
We are waking up to a few strong, but sub-severe storms. There will be periodic chances for thunderstorms throughout the week, so keep an umbrella near by as the heat and humidity could bubble up a few showers and storms in the heat of the afternoon. We are also under an Air Quality Alert today as well due to elevated ozone levels. Limit refueling during daylight hours or mowing the lawn.
SUNSET: 9:12 PM
An extremely warm and humid air mass takes hold through the entire work week. Peak heat indices of 95 to 100 degrees are possible each afternoon. The anticipated level of long-duration extreme heat with little to no overnight relief (lows above 70 degrees) will affect individuals without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.
