Man leads Saline police on wild chase

Man arrested after chase down Michigan Avenue in Saline

SALINE, Mich. – The Saline Police Department said a man led officers on a chase through the city Wednesday.

Officers responded to a call from a woman who said she had to leave her apartment and make the call from a local business. She was requesting police assistance because she was having problems with her husband.

When officers arrived at the business they met with the woman. While officers were talking with her, her husband arrived in the couple's vehicle and started yelling. When he saw the police officers he fled east on Michigan Avenue.

Police gave chase and the pursuit continued to about 1/2 mile east of Industrial Road. The man tried to make a U-turn but struck an officer's vehicle head-on. The officer exited his vehicle and the man drove around him, heading west on Michigan Avenue.

Police chased him back to the business where it all started. He circled around the building and into the parking lot. He was blocked in by police vehicles and arrested by an officer who had stayed back at the business.

He was being held by police while charges from the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office are pending.

His name will be withheld until he is arraigned on charges.
