Michigan men's hockey team now travels to No. 10 Wisconsin

Wolverines got win, tie against No. 2 Minnesota

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Michigan Wolverines men's hockey team could be ranked by the end of this weekend.

That's thanks to a strong series against No. 2 Minnesota (3-2-1 conference, 7-4-1 overall) last weekend and an opportunity against No. 10 Wisconsin (2-2-0 conference, 7-5-1 overall) this weekend.

The Wolverines (2-1-1 conference, 6-3-1 overall) topped the Golden Gophers 5-4 in overtime in the first game this past Friday, then settled for a tie in a high-scoring 6-6 game Saturday night at Yost Arena. Michigan was down 4-0 in the 2nd period and 6-3 in the 3rd but accomplished an unlikely comeback to tie the game at 6-6 in the final minutes of the game.

Another solid showing this weekend in Wisconsin could put Michigan in the national rankings before Thanksgiving.

Right now junior forward Cooper Marody is leading the Wolverines with 16 points. He had 4 assists in the two-game series against Minnesota. Sophomore defenseman Luke Martin continues to turn heads. Martin's goal late in the 3rd period Saturday helped the Wolverines come within one goal of the Gophers.

Minnesota has fallen to No. 6 in the latest rankings. Michigan nearly cracked the top 15 with 41 votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine list.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame remains undefeated in the Big Ten (4-0-0) and their 8-3-1 overall record has them ranked No. 4 in the country.
