Michigan vs. Michigan State football matchup announced as noon kickoff

Game scheduled for noon Nov. 16 in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – This year’s Michigan vs. Michigan State football game will be a noon kickoff in Ann Arbor, the schools announced.

Both the Michigan and MSU athletics websites were updated Monday to show the in-state rivalry as a noon kickoff.

Michigan will go into the game at 7-2 after beating Notre Dame and Maryland the last two weeks. The Wolverines have a bye to get ready for the Spartans.

Michigan State will play Illinois on Saturday after a much-needed bye week. The Spartans played a brutal schedule in October, taking trips to Ohio State and Wisconsin before a home game against Penn State.

MSU is 4-4 heading into the Illinois game.

The Wolverines won last year’s matchup 21-7 in East Lansing. Road teams are 4-0 in the rivalry since Jim Harbaugh took over as Michigan’s head coach.

With Monday’s announcement, Michigan will officially go the entire 2019 season without a 3:30 p.m. home game. The Wolverines will have played five noon games and two night games at home by the end of the season. Michigan has also played three noon games and one night game on the road.

The kickoff time for Michigan’s road trip to Indiana on Nov. 23 still hasn’t been announced.

Michigan State will play in its fifth 3:30 or 4 p.m. game this weekend. The Spartans have also played three night games and one noon game. Kickoff times for the final two games against Rutgers and Maryland have not been announced.
