New road closures to affect downtown Ann Arbor starting Monday

Parts of East Washington Street, South University Avenue to close

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – On Monday, two more road closures will disrupt traffic in downtown Ann Arbor.

Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. work on the 200 block of South Main Street will close East Washington Street from South Main Street to South Fourth Avenue.

Drivers should follow Fourth Avenue and Liberty Street detour to and from South Main Street. The Washington and Fourth parking structure should be entered via Washington Street and pedestrians will be rerouted.

On the other side of the downtown area, South University Avenue between Church Street and East University will be closed at 9 a.m. for construction. The road closure is expected to last until 5 p.m. on July 1, 2023, according to a notice from the City of Ann Arbor.

To avoid the closure, eastbound traffic should go south on East University Avenue, east on Hill Street and north on Church Street. Westbound traffic will not be affected.
