A 77-year-old man shot at a suspect who forcefully entered his home in Ann Arbor.

The home invasion occurred Wednesday (May 24) at 6 p.m. in the 1800 block of Arbordale Street.

Officials revealed that a man forcefully entered the house through a kitchen window while the elderly man was at home.

The 77-year-old man said he heard what sounded like someone trying to open his screen door while he was in his bedroom.

He then observed the suspect in his kitchen, prompting him to fire one bullet from his handgun, which did not hit the suspect as he jumped out the kitchen window and fled the scene on foot.

The elderly man said he did not know the suspect but described him as a white man, approximately 5′10″, late 20s, thin build, and wearing a gray sweatshirt.

No one was hurt in the home invasion, and nothing was stolen.

Officials say they could not locate the suspect, and the incident remains an active open investigation.
