Insurance Institute for Highway Safety releases crash test ratings


The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety revealed its list of 2012 vehicles with the best crash test ratings Thursday.

There are a record 115 vehicles on this year's Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick list.

The award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rollover, and rear crashes based on ratings in Institute evaluations.

In Michigan, an average of 993 people are killed every year in a traffic crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
