Cinetopia Festival to begin Thursday

40 films, 1 weekend, many events


DETROIT – The Cinetopia Festival kicks off Thursday, June 6, and will last through Sunday, June 9.

This festival, lighting up Detroit and Ann Arbor, will show 40 feature-length films, including dramas, comedies and documentaries from the world's best film festivals.

You can find these films airing at the Detroit Film Theatre at the Detroit Institute of Art, Michigan Theater, the State Theater and University of Michigan's Angell Hall.

Detroit Public Television is proudly sponsoring this event that was launched by Russ Collins, Lee Berry and the folks from the Michigan Theater.

The evens will include special events prior to the films as well as after. These will include presentations, discussion panels and question and answer sessions with directors, writers and stars.
