Overflow of good: Power of One Celebration to honor 3 child advocates
Local 4 anchor Steve Garagiola set to emcee special event in Livingston County
GENOA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – For the first time in its 32-year history, the Child Abuse Prevention Council will honor multiple child advocates with its Champion for Children awards at this year's Power of One Celebration, set for May 18.
Local 4 anchor Steve Garagiola will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the celebration, which runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cleary University's Johnson Center in Genoa Township.
The annual ceremony recognizes child advocates from Livingston County who make a significant difference in children's lives. Recipient names are not revealed until the night of the event, which is hosted by the CAP Council of LACASA.
The selection of recipients for the Champion for Children Award, which are not revealed until the night of the event, is a joint effort between CAP and the Great Start Collaborative of Livingston County.
"We receive many wonderful nominations for this award annually," said CAP Council Director, Deanna Norris. "It's a fantastic way for us to learn about all of the tremendous work being done for children by individuals in our community."
The decision to honor multiple people was an easy one.
"Although we typically honor one person each year, the decision by the awards committee to honor all three of these individuals was unanimous," said Norris.
Tickets for the Power of One Celebration are $35 each or $300 for a table of ten. Reservations for the event can be made online at www.lacasacenter.org or by calling LACASA at 517-548-1350.
