Learning with Law Enforcement event held in Southfield

Kids were treated to cider, doughnuts

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Southfield Public Library teamed up with the Southfield Police Department Saturday to host the Learning with Law Enforcement event.

The event was held at Inglenook Park on Twelve Mile Road near Lahser.

Kids were given a tour of the police mobile command unit, and snacked on cider and doughnuts.

Sgt. Katie Schneider said it's the perfect way to engage with kids in the community.

"Oh we love it, especially dealing with the kids," said Schneider. "It's great building trust with them and letting them know if anything ever happens we're here to keep them safe."

Kids that made it to the event also had the opportunity to select a free book to take home.
