Thousands pledge to eat healthy for 61 days

DETROIT – Thousands of DMC employees, corporate partners and other community members in metro Detroit are taking a pledge to live healthy for 61 days in the year's annual 61 Day Challenge.

The event, themed 'How do you Live the 61-Day Challenge' focuses on healthy lifestyle choices like fitness, nutrition, health education and dedication. Those involved are asked not to drink pop or eat fried foods, eat less sugar and more fruits and take more steps during their daily routine.

The event begins Friday at 10 a.m. at the DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan.

Partners involved include Illitch Holdings, Medical Weight Loss Clinic, Quicken Loans, Alpha Kappa Alpha Incorporated, Cornerstone Health High School, The Links-Renaissance Chapter (Detroit), U.S. Department of Probations, Detroit Receiving Hospital Employee Committee and Harper Hospital Employee Engagement Committee.
