Delta Detroit to host 34th annual art auction on Sunday

The auction aims to provide scholarships to local students

DETROIT – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in Detroit will be hosting its"34th Annual Delta Art Scholarship Auction" on Sunday.

The auction aims to raise funds that will help gifted students pursue educations centered around art.

The scholarship application window to enter to receive scholarships has closed. But, with this year's auction, Delta Detroit is hoping to give out eight scholarships to local students.

Works created by renowned local artists, such as Richard Bennett, who created the Sentry Mask hanging outside of the Charles H. Wright African American Museum in Detroit, will be featured in the auction.

Other participating artists include the National Conference of Artists (NCA), George N’Namdi Center for Contemporary Arts, the Dell Pryor Gallery, and Jo's Gallery.

Tickets to Delta Detroit's auction start at $35 dollars.

The event will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m at the Delta Sigma Theata headquarters on West 7 Mile Road. More information can be found here.
