DETROIT – Here's what is happening around the D this weekend!

The Woodward Dream Cruise returns Saturday and already, car lovers have been hitting the pavement in anticipation to one of the biggest summer events.

Friday, August 19:

The Detroit Show: Join us Friday August 19th for our closing reception of "The Detroit Show" featuring new works by Niagara Detroit, Slaw Stanislawski & Jerome Ferretti. reception starts at 6pm and goes until 10pm. check out the link below for more information!

Wolverines in the D: U-M students, alumni, family, and friends are invited to enjoy a night of Tigers baseball and postgame fireworks (weather permitting) with a special ticket package. This game will pit the Tigers against the Boston Red Sox. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Pat Maloy Scholarship Fund.

Saturday, August 20:

Detroit City Art Walk 2.0: The Detroit City Art Walk, LLC will be holding its SECOND annual event this year on August 20th and August 21st in the Historical Corktown District of Detroit. This event features numerous pop-up galleries along the business establishments, bars, cafes, restaurants, et cetera located on Michigan Avenue. Their will be live music and entertainment on both days. 

Detroit Field Day: Join us for the first public meeting of the Detroit Restaurant Association. Meet and greet Detroit Restauranteurs, enjoy food, beer and wine, live music and games.

Mad Decent Block Party: America’s Biggest Block Party is back in 2016 with 16 shows in 13 cities this summer. Don’t miss out on Mad Decent Block Party 2016!

Heidelberg Block Party: In celebration of the Heidelberg Projects turning 30 years old 1xRUN and Inner State Gallery, in collaboration with the Heidelberg Projects, will be curating a takeover of the public art space for the month of August. Every weekend in the month of August 1xRUN and Inner State Gallery will activate the Heidelberg with a number of community oriented activities

Fortress Radio Drive-In: Join Botanical Fortress as they broadcast their live performance on the FM dial, performing to the 1992 non-narrative documentary film BARAKA ... an epic visual experience filmed in 26 countries around the globe. Drive your vehicle into the Recycling side parking lot, follow the attendants directions and tune in your radio as you watch and listen live.

Ashanti at Motor City Casino Sound Board: Sound Board welcomes, Grammy Award Winner, Ashanti to Sound Board on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 8PM. Opening for Ashanti will be Detroit’s own Marcus Douglas Band featuring Kiko.
