'The Cookstock Recipe Contest' from Bookstock

A Bookstock Kitchen Adventure!

Bookstock, Michigan’s largest used book and media sale, invites amateur chefs across Michigan to submit their best recipes for a one-dish, healthy meal! Contest winners will receive fabulous prizes and bragging rights in the first-ever cooking contest to benefit literacy across Metro Detroit!

GRAND PRIZE
A DAY IN THE KITCHEN WITH THE CHEFS OF GREY GHOST!
The winner will spend the day refining their culinary techniques and expanding their gastronomic repertoire alongside Grey Ghost Chefs John Vermiglio and Josef Giacomino. Using the season’s freshest ingredients, the winner will work with the chefs to prepare an exclusive six-course menu for four. As evening falls, the winner will join three of their friends for dinner while sipping libation pairings from the Grey Ghost beverage director. But that’s not all!  The winner will prepare the winning dish on WDIV Local 4’s “Live in the D” on Thursday, April 27.

Second Prize:  A Wolf Countertop Convection Oven
Third Prize:  $100 gift certificate to Beau’s, Mex or Social restaurants

PANEL OF CELEBRITY JUDGES
A panel featuring celebrity chefs John Vermiglio of Grey Ghost, Kate Williams of Lady of the House, Detroit Free Press restaurant critic Mark Kurlyandchik and Detroit News Features Reporter and star foodie Melody Baetens will choose the winners.  Local TV personalities Tati Amare (WDIV Local 4) Carolyn Clifford (WXYZ-TV 7) and Sherry Margolis (FOX2) will join Bookstock Presenting Sponsor Mike Morse and Bookstock Honorary Co-Chairs Rochelle Riley and Neal Rubin to announce the winners at 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 26 at Laurel Park Place in Livonia.

Cookstock falls in the middle of Bookstock, which runs Sunday, April 23 through Sunday, April 30 at Livonia’s Laurel Park Place. Marking 15 years of supporting the need to read, Bookstock has generated more than $1.5 million for literacy and education projects throughout Oakland County and Detroit.
