Public's help sought in building ramps for injured, disabled veterans

Volunteers, veterans are hoping to build 10 ramps

WESTLAND, Mich. – Veterans of Westland and the Wayne Ford Civic League are asking for help building ramps for injured or disabled veterans.

Members of the group spent Saturday morning building their second wheelchair ramp with plans for more.

Volunteers said some veterans desperately need the help and this is a way to thank them for their service.

The not-for-profit group is building ramps with local materials and said community support is growing as word gets out.

Volunteers and veterans are hoping to build 10 ramps and have them ready to be delivered as soon as they're needed.

A GoFundMe page has been set up.
