Bookstock's "Cookstock Recipe Contest" Winner Announced

Bee Englehart of Bloomfield Hills

LIVONIA – The grand prize winner of Bookstock's "Cookstock Recipe Contest" is Bee Englehart of Bloomfield Hills. Local 4 "Live in the D" host Tati Amare announced the winner at Laurel Park Place in Livonia on Wednesday night during the Bookstock event.

Bookstock, Michigan’s largest used book and media sale, invited amateur chefs from across southeast Michigan to submit their best recipes for a one-dish, healthy meal. It was Bookstock's first-ever cooking contest to benefit literacy across Metro Detroit. The grand prize is to spend a day with a chef from one of Detroit's most celebrated restaurants, Grey Ghost, and tearn some culinary techniques.

Recipes were judged by a distinguished panel featuring celebrity chefs John Vermiglio of Grey Ghost, Kate Williams of Lady of the House, Detroit Free Press restaurant critic Mark Kurlyandchik and Detroit News Features Reporter and star foodie Melody Baetens.

These local celebrity presenters joined Bookstock presenting sponsor Mike Morse and Bookstock Honorary Co-Chairs Rochelle Riley and Neal Rubin to announce the winners.

Bee winning entry was a Thai-inspired fish stew using cod. When she developed the recipe she wanted to use a nice thick piece of fish without spending a lot of money so she chose a loin piece of cod. It's cooked in coconut milk with garlic, cilantro, ginger, shiitake mushrooms, snow peas and carrots. To finish it off Bee toped the dish with sliced green onion, topped peanuts and serrano peppers, sauteed red onions and lime.

Bookstock runs until Sunday, April 30 at Laurel Park Place in Livonia. For hours and more information please click here.
