Clothing shop, salad bar, yoga studio coming to 'The Z' in Detroit

DETROIT – You'll be able to work out, dress up and eat healthy at the three new tenants moving in to "The Z" in downtown Detroit.

Bedrock Real Estate Services on Thursday said the news businesses would be moving in on the Library Street side of the development.

  • NoJo Kicks (1,400 square feet): An out-of-the-box premium retailer of luxury and rare collectible sneakers, tailored jeans and custom hats. NoJo Kicks doesn't do normal, ordinary or typical, offering a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. The retailer will initially open at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 23 and be open through the Ford Fireworks, offering premium shoe styles at retail prices. NoJo Kicks will officially open 7-days-a-week beginning in July. For more information visit www.nojokicks.com.
  • 7 Greens (1,500 square feet): A new farm to fork destination owned by long-time Detroit chef and caterer Kelly Schaefer, which offers make-your-own salads with her homemade sauces, soups, granola and sweets. Focused on fresh, fast, healthful gourmet eating, 7 Greens will be open for lunch and dinner Monday – Saturday beginning in August. For more information visit www.7greens.com.
  • Citizen Yoga (2,300 square feet): Citizen Yoga offers classes that range from Vinyasa to Basics with an emphasis on alignment. Founder Kacee Must opened the first studio in Royal Oak in August 2013. Bryan Lively, VP of Retail at Moosejaw, who has consulted Kacee the last two years, will be joining her to open their Detroit location this fall. Citizen Yoga is a company dedicated to high quality teaching, as well as, hosting and participating in events that help facilitate an inclusive community in Metro Detroit. Citizen Yoga will offer great retail featuring a "Citizen of Detroit" private label clothing line. The studio will be offering classes 7-days-a-week. For more information: www.citizenyogastudio.com.

The addition of these retailers leaves only 8,000 square feet of available retail space in ‘The Z." Tenants for the remaining retail space will be announced in the coming months.

The tenants will join Punch Bowl Social, which was announced in April as the development's anchor tenant on the Broadway Street side of ‘The Z.'

"The Z" opened in January 2014, with 34,000 square feet of street-level retail, state-of-the-art parking technology and murals painted by 27 international artists, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for all visitors.

I was asked to document what some are calling the biggest contemporary art project of 2013, I shot over a 3 month time period with some of the greatest artists of our time and it was one of the best experiences I was fortunate to have.
