Attendees must bring their own painting supplies, canvases and creative tools. Everything from traditional canvases to wood and glass can be used, as well as a variety of paints.

Created in 2011, the Lincoln Street Art Park is located in Detroit’s New Center area. It inhabits a former industrial area.

The once illegal dumping space has been cleaned up and transformed into an evolving world of art in the city.

It is behind the Recycle Here! building on Holden Avenue.

Recycle Here! is a community recycling program. Tours are offered of the building to show students how they can get involved in recycling and reduce their impact on the environment.

Visiting the art park also shows how items have been reused to make something new, namely the sculptures that are in the park.

The park also serves as a community gathering space, and can be reserved for events.

The first painting day will be April 9 from noon to 8 p.m.

It is in collaboration with In Art I Trust, artwork by Dearborn artist Matthew Blake Hutfloetz.

The event is BYOB, and other items such as BBQ supplies can be brought as well.
