National Singing Star competition coming to Michigan

The National Singing Star competition is headed to Michigan to find Detroit's newest sensation.

Open call auditions for all ages will be held Monday, Oct. 14, and Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Oakland Mall.

Competitors moving forward into preliminaries, semi-finals and finals, will be chosen by a combined score determined by both the judge's points and votes accumulated by the crowd.

The winner will get $500 in cash, a Singing Star trophy, a professional studio recording session, television appearance and performance opportunities.

Voting proceeds benefit music programs at the Children's Miracle Network at Beaumont Hospital.
