VegFest brings vegan food, vendors to Novi

NOVI, Mich.VegFest, an annual vegan fest and expo, returns to Novi on April 30.

Fair trade, cruelty-free products will be available for purchase, and samples will be available from over 50 restaurants and food vendors.

Guests can sample food from The Nosh Pit Food Truck, Boardwalk Kitchen, Ope’s Cookies, Bit Baking Co. and Little Diablo Salsa.

A focus at the event will be health, ethical and environmental benefits of a vegan lifestyle.

Guest speakers will discuss vegan recipes, vegan fitness and other topics related to animal welfare, such as how to create a humane economy.

Among the speakers will be Michael Dorn, who played Worf in Star Trek; Wayne Pacelle, president and chief executive officer of The Humane Society of the United States; Quiana “Que” Broden, a vegan food blogger with experience in the food industry; and Dr. Joel Kahn, who teaches plant-based cardiology.

A kids’ zone will include games, face-painting and the opportunity to experience life as a farm animal through virtual reality glasses.

VegFest is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Suburban Collection Showplace at 46100 Grand River Ave. in Novi.
