Consumer Reports rates top sedans

Thumbs up for Chrysler 300, thumbs down for Ford Taurus

DETROIT – Chrysler is getting some positive reviews for the 2011 version of its 300 sedan.

Consumer Reports says the car's score has been boosted, after it found the 300 handles well, has a quiet cabin, and features controls that are simple and easy to use.

Right now, the 300 has not been awarded the sough-after "Recommended" designation. The consumer magazine is waiting to see more data on how reliable the 2011 model will be. However, the higher score is another boost for Chrysler which has seen its market share jump thanks to newer models.

Recommended models

The Consumer Reports "Recommended" cars in this class are the previously tested Hyundai Genesis, Nissan Maxima and Acura TL.

Thumbs down

The reviews were not great for the Ford Taurus. Consumer Reports gave that model low marks for its "cramped" interior, limited visibility, andwhat the magazine calls the "cumbersome" MyFordTouch control system.
