American teenagers, not so money savvy!

U.S. teens rate average in international money study

Most American teenagers certainly know the way to the shopping mall, but an new international study shows they may not know a lot about saving, spending, and investing money. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development devised the study which was released on July 9th.

The survey looked at the financial literacy of 15-year-olds in 18 countries. The United States ranked at best #8 and at worst #12, based on the range of scores from its 1,133 students tested. Globally, 29,000 students took the test.

Student from the United Stated scored an average of 492, the global average was 500. The highest score went to Shanghai, China which scored a 603.
