Gas leak danger: Fireplaces, stoves recalled

Customers warned about gas leak danger

Just as we head into the cooler temperatures of fall, Hearth & Home Technologies is recalling about 20,000 gas fireplaces, stoves, gas inserts, and log sets. The company says the gas valve in the affected products can leak, posing a fire hazard.

This recall involves Hearth & Home Technologies, Heat-N-Glo, Heatilator, Outdoor Lifestyles, and Quadra Fire natural or propane gas indoor and outdoor fireplaces, stoves, inserts and log sets. There is a long list of products and serial numbers posted on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's website.

Consumers should immediately stop using the gas fireplaces, stoves, inserts and log sets, turn off the gas to the units and contact the fireplace store where the unit was purchased to arrange for a free inspection and, if necessary, valve replacement. The firm's dealers are contacting known purchasers.

If you have more questions you can contact Hearth & Home Technologies at 800-883-6690 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or on Hearth & Home's website
