Mike Wendland, an expert who works with NBC News, offered a list of apps that can track your usage, send you alerts, and possibly help you get a handle on how much you're actually using your phone.

Moment is an app that automatically tracks daily use of your iPhone and iPad. You can set daily limits and receive notifications when you're getting close to that limit.

Breakfree runs in the background of your phone and will alert you if you're using certain apps too much, or if you're making too many calls. This app also figures out a so-called "Addiction Score" to help maintain healthy usage.

Checky keeps tabs on the number of times you open your phone daily. Breakfree and Checky are both free and will run on your iOS and Android phones.

Below are links where you can learn more. As always, read any fine print and make sure each app is something that you want to use.
