Airlines may start charging you to avoid the middle seat
Avoiding the dreaded middle seat on your next flight may cost you.
According to a NY Times report, some airlines are planning on charging an extra fee to avoid getting stuck in the middle seat.
Many airlines have already eliminated seat selection from the ticket buying process. Southwest Airlines, for instance, doesn't allow seat selection until 24 hours before your flight.
Delta also does not allow seat assignments to be made until after check-in.
