Detroit works to clean up blighted house near elementary school

DETROIT – A blighted house that's not only an eyesore is also a danger, as it sits right next to an elementary school in Detroit.

Consumer investigator Hank Winchester spotted the house Wednesday when he was visiting the children at Thurgood Marshall to read them a story.

Officials said they believe the house was ripped apart by scrappers. The city of Detroit agreed that the house needed to be cleaned up and crews are working to make the area safer.
