This consumer alert comes with a very sad reminder about the safety concerns that have swirled around the Nap Nanny infant recliner for years. The safety concerns were first raised in 2010, but a 6th child death has been linked to the Nap Nanny this year, in 2014!
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission blog, the latest death involved an 8-month-old girl who was secured by a belt, but was found partly hanging over the side of a Nap Nanny recliner, trapped between the product and a crib bumper.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's Safe to Sleep experts urge all parents and caregivers who own a Nap Nanny or Nap Nanny Chill recliner to stop using it immediately.
Last June, Ruth to the Rescue reported federal regulators recalled all of the company's infant recliner. At the time, five deaths had been reported and 92 incidents of babied hanging or falling out of the Nap Nanny. The feds said about 165-thousand of the Nap Nanny and Chill Products were sold between 2009 and 2012.
Baby Matters, the manufacturer, had already gone out of business by then. Some retailers who had sold the Nap Nanny were still offering to give customers their money back. If you still have a Nap Nanny, try to contact the retailer, where it was purchased, to see what can be done.
