Home trends for 2015

Home Trends for 2015 are ever-changing and can be budget friendly. Big or small changes around the home can make a big difference.  Your home is your sanctuary; the place you spend the most time.  Your home should not only look beautiful but feel comfortable and inviting, too.

If you’re looking to make a drastic change, painting can be a great solution.  2015 brings back the bold look in rooms using dark hues of blue, gray-black, bright red or olive green for a warm feel.  Neutrals such as lighter grays, creams, light blues and subtle rose colored walls will help to open the room and make it feel bigger than it is. If you don’t want a drastic change, painting only an accent wall will pull the room together.  While on the subject of walls, adding artwork is a great way to change your space – purchased or homemade.  Whether hanging family photos, or the addition of an oversized gallery painting or photo, it will grab the attention of the person walking into the room or make a statement all on its own.  Remember, when hanging the art work, nothing needs to match.  Salon-style walls are big for 2015.  Different pieces framed or unframed with unusual dimensions hung on the same wall is also a great way to change up the living space.

Another home trend for 2015 is brass, and the easiest way to incorporate it would be in your fixtures, especially new hardware.  Changing knobs in the kitchen or bathroom - even the handles on an accent piece in the home will give it a fresh new look.

Oversized vintage claw-foot tubs (free standing tubs) are another big trend in 2015.  They are hard to come by but some older homes still have them.  If you already have one in your home, it would be best to look into how to refinish and restore it.

Lastly, new specially designed storage spaces are not only a transformation, but it helps to keep your home clutter-free.  Adding space with drawers under staircases or the addition of a mud room with cabinetry will help keep any home feeling orderly and organized.
