Affordable ways to bring cozy to your bedroom

For most people, their bedroom is a sacred place where they go to escape the stress and pressure of daily life.  In order to do that, their bedroom must be filled with comfort and softness, making it a safe spot to snuggle into on the tough days. Or the rainy days.  Or just the days when napping is a must!  Achieving that level of coziness can be expensive but it certainly doesn’t have to be.  Take a look at some inexpensive ways to cozy up your bedroom:

Cover your bed from up top:  There are a lot of ways to add a canopy over your bed if you don’t have a canopy bed.  You can take a large piece of fabric and nail it to the ceiling and wall behind the bed to add a feeling of enclosed coziness.  Or string up netting and fairy lights to give it a soft glow.  Even more simply, you can hang curtains on either side of the bed to add an option to close off the bed to the rest of the room.

Strike a match and turn off the lights:  Nothing is cozier than the soft glow of candlelight.  Turn off all those overhead lighting, add more candles than you would usually use in a room, and then sit back and enjoy the soft, flickering light.  Include scented candles in your preferred fragrance to complete the experience.

Rugs to match:  It can be surprising how expensive area rugs can be, but there is a way to get around buying an expensive rug just because it is in the exact shade of pink you need.  Instead, purchase an inexpensive, white rug (something like a faux sheepskin rug from IKEA) and simply dye it to match your bedroom!  This will not only save you money, but if you decide you want to change the color again in 6 months, it won’t be expensive to replace.

Pillows, pillows and more pillows:  Not only are throw pillows and cheap and easy way to add color and character to any room, but they actually are a soft place to land.  Fill your bedroom with pillows in all shapes, sizes and colors so that you always have one on hand to cuddle into or onto.  Have old pillows?  No problem, you can recover them cheaply and easily.

Throw in some throws:  Along with the never having too many pillows theory, you can also never have enough soft, snuggly throw blankets.  Not only are they good for wrapping up in when you want to cuddle into a chair with a good book, but they are great decoration pieces for when you aren’t using them, either on the end of a bed or piece of furniture or folded up and stacked neatly for a splash of color.
