DETROIT – Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton and Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander are engaged, E! News reported Monday.
Upton, 23, stepped out on the red carpet of the Met Gala flashing the engagement ring, telling E! News exclusively, "I'm really excited. He asked me right before (the) season started so we've been keeping it on the down low for quite a while," she told E! News exclusively. "So I'm excited to finally be able to share it with the world."
Upton was born in St. Joseph, Mich. Her uncle is U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich.
Verlander, 33, has been with the Tigers since 2006.
