Prodigy, member of Mobb Deep, dies at 42

Prodigy, member of the hip hop duo Mobb Deep, has died at the age of 42.

The cause of his death is currently unknown but a representative for the rapper released the following statement:

“Prodigy was hospitalized a few days ago in Vegas after a Mobb Deep performance for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis,” their statement reads. “As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth. The exact causes of death have yet to be determined.”

Prodigy and Havoc made up the 1990s hip hop group Mobb Deep, known as one of the most influential hip hop groups of the decade.
