Don Was and Big Sean celebrity guests on "Ford Fireworks" June 26

DETROIT – Don Was and Big Sean are two of the celebrity guests at this year’s broadcast of “The Ford Fireworks” on Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit, presented by The Parade Company.

Oak Park native Don Was comes home to Detroit for “The Ford Fireworks” as he ramps up for his 10th annual “Don Was Detroit All-Star Revue” at the Concert of Colors festival.  A legendary musician and producer, Was led the 1980’s funk rock band Was (Not Was) and went on to produce some of music’s most prolific artists like The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Ziggy Marley and Paula Abdul among others. Currently, the Grammy-winning producer is the president and chief creative director of Blue Note Records

Detroit-born rapper Big Sean, also on the show, is back in town for the L.I.T.E. Fest (Lead, Innovate, Thrive, Elevate), a special event and exclusive fireworks viewing location for 2,000 Detroit-area students and their families at West Riverfront Park, hosted by The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. A prolific hip hop recording artist, Sean scored a second No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his album “I Decided,” released in February.

In addition, “Detroit’s Queen of Blues,” Thornetta Davis, will be singing both the American and Canadian anthems as the respective flags fly over the riverfront.

Local 4 anchors Devin Scillian, Kimberly Gill, Ben Bailey and Rhonda Walker will host this primetime special live from The Parade Company’s exclusive rooftop venue overlooking the Detroit River.  “The Ford Fireworks” is the highest rated local, entertainment television event of the summer and one of the nation’s largest fireworks displays.
