Glenn Close: Stigma prevents people from getting treated for mental illness

Hollywood star visits Detroit to raise awareness of mental health issues

She appeared Aug. 14, 2018 at WDIV-TV with the Detroit Wayne Mental Health Association.

DETROIT – Hollywood star Glenn Close visited Detroit on Aug. 14 to talk about the stigma around mental health and how it stops people from seeking treatment. 

Drawing on personal experience in her family, Close shared how her family had to learn how to talk about mental illness before they were able to help them treat depression. And, while the treatment was successful, they remain vigilant and serve as a support network for their loved one.
